About Trail North

 

 

 

Northern Saskatchewan

  • Lac La Ronge has over 15,000 km of beautiful Precambrian shoreline and hundreds of secluded islands.
  • Saskatchewan has 100,000 freshwater lakes.
  • More than half of Saskatchewan's land mass is provincial forest providing excellent habitat for wildlife.
  • Saskatchewan has more sunshine hours per year than almost anywhere in Canada.  May 1 to September 30 has 1300 hours.
  • Saskatchewan has one of the largest concentrations of flying-in fishing camps in the world.
  • The Churchill River, just north of Trail North Fishing Camp, provides some of the most exhilarating white-water canoe adventures in North America.  
  • The Churchill River which is linked to Lac La Ronge, was a historic pathway for early voyageurs and fur traders, described by many as one of the most beautiful canoeing rivers in Canada.

The Island on The Lake

  • Trail North is located on Bunn Island.

The Lodge

  • A new, fully modern log lodge was opened in 1987.
  • The lodge is 1600 sq. ft and can accommodates 21 people.
  • Sleeping accommodations are handled by two bunk rooms that have a capacity of 15 guests. There are three more bed rooms that accommodate 2 people per room.
  • The lodge is fully equipped to offer full meals and bedding, and is fully modern.
  • The lodge features hot and cold running water which includes flush toilets and shower facilities for your convenience.
  • The lodge also boasts a centrally located dining area with a breathtaking view of Hunter Bay.
  • A large deck for relaxation surrounds the lodge.
  • For those cool nights of May and October the lodge is equipped with energy efficient wood stove heat.
  • Cellar phone available for emergencies.

The Fish Cleaning Area

  • Fully covered fish cleaning facilities.
  • Stainless steel fish cleaning tables.
  • Running water.
  • Equipment to package and freeze fish.

The Boats

  • 16 foot aluminum boats with 20 hp Mercury motors
  • Boats equipped with bucket seats.
  • Boats also come complete with fish finders, nets, fish tubs, life jackets, and etc..

Travel to Trail North

  • U.S. commercial flights are available through Minn/St. Paul or Calgary via Northwest Airlines.  These are same day commercial flights into Lac La Ronge or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

  • We would be happy to meet you in either Lac La Ronge or Saskatoon.

  • Saskatoon is the largest city in Saskatchewan is about four hours by car to Lac La Ronge.

  • Trail North is a 20 minute float plane ride from Lac La Ronge. (We can charter the float plane for you.)

  • Trail North is a 90 minute boat ride from Lac La Ronge. (We would be happy to pick you up, in our 20 foot in board boat, and deliver you to Trail North.)

  • For those of you with a private aircraft La Ronge has a 5000 ft. paved air strip, equipped with V.O.R.. Elevation is 1200 ft. Aircraft fuel is available
